OPITO Enhances TRAIN-R App to Support Global Workforce Access to Training Records

New features improve flexibility, visibility and support for learners across the global energy workforce

OPITO has introduced a series of updates to its free TRAIN-R app, further strengthening its role in supporting the global energy workforce. With more than 60,000 downloads worldwide, TRAIN-R continues to help learners plan, track and confirm their OPITO training from anywhere in the world.

The app was developed to give safety-critical workers direct access to their training records via their smart device, ensuring safety and competency certification remains current and aligned with role specific requirements. Whether onshore or offshore, users can view their records, check expiry dates and confirm compliance with OPITO standards. Offline functionality also allows users to access downloaded records in remote or offshore environments where connectivity may be limited.

The latest enhancements offer greater flexibility and functionality:

  • Learners can now access their records using either their OPITO learner number or their Vantage number, making it easier for users across different systems to retrieve information.
  • Certificates not issued directly by training centres can now be downloaded, including:
    • Open Learning final certificates once a full series is completed
    • Certificates awarded through The HUB for the APTUS Apprenticeship programme
  • The app has been fully optimised for the latest mobile devices, ensuring smoother performance and improved accessibility across platforms.
  • Users can view which OPITO standards are available at specific training centres, helping them plan future training more effectively and choose the most suitable location.

TRAIN-R also provides contact details for OPITO-approved centres, making it easier for users to connect with local providers and schedule upcoming training. These enhancements reflect OPITO’s ongoing commitment to delivering practical digital tools that support workforce development, safety and compliance across the energy sector.
