OPITO Announces Launch of New Rescue from Height Product
OPITO is pleased to announce the launch of its new product, Rescue from Height, developed in collaboration with industry partners to support enhanced emergency response capability across global safety critical industries.
Working at height continues to present a significant risk across construction, maintenance, and shutdown activities. Recent incident data and operator feedback highlight a clear need for improved competence in both self-rescue and assisted rescue techniques, particularly in situations where workers may become suspended or incapacitated.
The Rescue from Height product provides a structured, competency-based framework designed to strengthen the skills required to manage these scenarios safely and effectively. Key areas of focus include:
- Self-rescue techniques for personnel working at height
- Assisted rescue procedures for suspended or injured workers
- Safe use of rescue equipment and fall arrest systems
- Scenario based training aligned to real operational environments
To support the development process, the product was shaped through close engagement with employers and was successfully piloted in Qatar with GSS Training. This pilot enabled OPITO to refine the structure, assessment approach, and practical training elements based on feedback from instructors and participants, ensuring the final version is robust, scalable, and ready for global deployment.
