OPITO Announces International Board Transition to Strengthen Global and Regional Collaboration

OPITO has announced a transition within its International Board as Paulo Van Der Ven, Head of Joint Operations Support at Equinor, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, concludes his term as an Associate Board Member. 


Paulo has played a pivotal role in shaping OPITO’s strategic direction across Brazil and South America. His expertise and commitment have supported meaningful progress in skills development, workforce competence, and the advancement of safety standards. We extend our sincere thanks to Paulo for his valued contribution and the leadership he has demonstrated throughout his tenure.

As Paulo departs the his position on the International Board, we are delighted to welcome Mohammed Al-Sayed Al Hashmi VP, Group Business Continuity, Emergency Response & Crisis Management • Group Business Continuity, Emergency Response & Crisis Management at ADNOC, who will officially join the OPITO International Board as a new Associate Board Member from 1 January 2026.


Mohammed’s appointment reflects OPITO’s commitment to strengthening global representation and deepening collaboration with industry partners across the Middle East. With experience in crisis management and emergency response, and with extensive offshore operations experience, Mohammed brings a strong understanding of the regional opportunities and challenges that will shape the next phase of industry growth. 


His expertise will be invaluable as OPITO builds upon recent momentum to support workforce development, elevate safety standards, and ensure consistency in training and competency worldwide.
