The OPITO Training Diploma: Bolted Flange Joint Integrity (BFJI) – Joint Maker (Manual Torque Wrench MTW) qualification is designed for personnel who carry out bolted flange joint making activities to support leak free joint integrity.
This includes individuals working in:
• Mechanical maintenance roles
• Bolted joint assembly and tightening activities
• Oil and gas, industrial and energy sector operations
The qualification supports learners who are required to perform joint making activities safely, consistently and in accordance with worksite procedures.
What does this Product cover?
The qualification covers the following areas:
• Joint identification and tagging
• Safe flange disassembly
• Assembly preparation and component verification
• Lubrication selection and application
• Tightening using a Manual Torque Wrench (MTW)
• Post‑tightening checks, documentation and handover
The qualification ensures learners can apply these skills in alignment with operational procedures and safe
systems of work.
Entry Requirements
Entry is at the discretion of OPITO
Learners should be in a job or placement where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.
Product Achievement Requirements
To achieve the OPITO Training Diploma: Bolted Flange Joint Integrity (BFJI) – Joint Maker (Manual Torque Wrench MTW) qualification the learner would need to achieve the mandatory unit.
