Registration opens for OPITO Global 2022
Registration is now live for the much-anticipated OPITO Global conference which is returning after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
Focusing on transformation across society, the energy industry and how this is impacting safety and skills development, OPITO will be joined by a line-up of keynote speakers on November 9thand 10th In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The innovative line-up of speakers includes Nick Fry, Non-Executive Chairman of McLaren Applied and former CEO of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team. Nick was responsible for leading the Mercedes team to its first F1 victory and subsequent World Championships. Having worked in the fast-paced world of motorsport since 2002, Nick’s experience in Formula One provides a rare insight into change management, risk, innovation and strategic leadership.
Joining Nick on the stage on day 1, is Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, founder of the award-winning social enterprise, Stemettes. A child prodigy, Anne-Marie holds the world record for the youngest girl to ever pass A-level computing aged 11, and is one of the youngest people ever to be awarded a Masters Degree by University of Oxford aged 20. A recognised and respected thought-leader in the tech space, Anne-Marie is well versed in discussing topics around the future of work, leaders of the future and diversity in tech.
Alex Spencer, OPITO Operations Director, commented: “Both Nick and Dr Anne-Marie are respected leaders in their fields.
“The world of Formula One is known for innovation, speed and efficiency, with an overarching aim of keeping drivers safe. Over the last two years, we at OPITO have evolved and adapted at a pace we haven’t seen before to support our network of Training Centres and protect the workforce. I am looking forward to hearing more about Nick’s F1 career and how we can apply his experience to develop a culture where innovation thrives.
“Increasing diversity of our workforce is a challenge for us all, regardless of geographic location. Dr Anne Marie’s passion for STEM subjects and the workplace of the future is aligned to OPITO’s ongoing commitment and support for inspiring the next generation through our My Energy Future programme. Our industry thrives on new ideas and we need a diverse range of people and perspectives to ensure a competitive and sustainable energy industry for the future.”
OPITO Global Day 2 consists of additional workshop sessions for its network of Training Centres, encouraging industry collaboration across a wide range of safety topics. The sessions will follow an inspiring keynote speech from Chris Lemons, a commercial diver specialising in deep sea saturation diving, discussing his miraculous survival story. Chris will highlight the importance of emergency response training and resilience, which he experienced after a freak failure of the dynamic positioning system of the vessel he was working on. This left him with only five minutes of breathing gas in emergency tanks on his back.
Running alongside this two-day industry event will be My Energy Future Live, the OPITO led STEM programme designed to engage and inspire the energy leaders of the future.
