OPITO Establishes New Presence in South America

OPITO Establishes New Presence in South America

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Patrick Modolo as the new Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for South America. Based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Patrick will focus on enhancing relationships with key stakeholders and growing OPITO’s influence within the energy sector, not only in Brazil but across South America.

The appointment of Patrick to this role marks a significant milestone – with it being the first time OPITO has employed a full-time position in the region.

Bringing a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Maersk Training and RelyOn Nutec, Patrick has a solid understanding of OPITO’s product offering.

Commenting on his appointment, Patrick said:

“I aim to collaborate closely with our local partners and stakeholders, including industry representatives, training providers, and regulatory bodies. My goal is to highlight the value OPITO brings in a global energy sector, particularly in terms of training quality and safety. I hope to foster a shared vision where OPITO is seen not just as a training standard, but as a vital partner in developing workforce competence through its qualifications, upskilling and assessment frameworks.”

Patrick's appointment comes at a crucial time as Brazil and the wider South American region experience a surge in CCUS initiatives and energy production, particularly in deepwater oil and gas, as well as renewables like onshore wind, and upcoming hydrogen production projects.

"South America has a unique energy mix, with significant investments being made into the renewables market, alongside a growing oil and gas sector. OPITO is well-positioned to support the development of both traditional and emerging energy sources, ensuring that safety and competence remain at the forefront."

With his extensive experience, passion for the industry, and commitment to the region, Patrick looks forward to meeting with stakeholders in the region, as we work together to develop a safe, skilled and competent workforce both now, and for the future.
