Driving OPITO’s Expansion in the Americas

We are delighted to announce that Grant Doran has stepped into a new role as VP of Strategic Partnerships for the Americas. 

Grant first joined OPITO in January 2019, working in the Dubai regional office as a Quality Assurance Specialist. His previous experience working for an international training provider in Qatar involved securing OPITO approvals, building a solid foundation on the approval process from a customer’s perspective. 

Grant was promoted to Senior Quality Assurance Specialist in 2022 where his focus expanded to training and developing the QA team. Emphasising the importance of a standardised approach, Grant worked with the global teams to ensure OPITO’s processes continued to be implemented to the highest standards.

 

VP of Strategic Partnerships for the Americas

In June 2024 Grant took on a new challenge as the VP of Strategic Partnerships for the Americas. 

Moving to Houston to head-up OPITO’s regional office in the US, Grant has a dual focus for the region: to re-engage and expand.

The Americas boast a diverse energy landscape, ranging from mature oil and gas production fields to rapidly growing renewable energy projects. 

Grant aims to solidify OPITO’s presence in the region by collaborating with key stakeholders to understand their core challenges. This will enable OPITO to shape the future of the energy industry in the region with skills and safety of our people front and centre.  Equally important is his focus on engaging with new stakeholders. In particular on the East and West Coast of the US where the renewables sector - solar, wind, and CCUS - is rapidly evolving, alongside emerging markets within Central and South America. 

Understanding market needs and staying ahead of emerging projects is crucial. These up-and-coming markets present exciting opportunities and OPITO is positioned to guide them while working together to develop a safe, skilled and competent workforce.

 

Opportunities to Collaborate       

Industry feedback and collaboration is essential to drive meaningful change. Recently, industry partners recognised a critical gap in standardised helideck team member training in the Gulf of Mexico. It was clear that the US offshore industry was missing a significant opportunity to optimise safe operations on helidecks. In response, OPITO worked with the industry to launch new Helideck Operations products tailored specifically for the Americas market.
