Centres apply for Approval to deliver OPITO Industry Standards - the current Approval Process and monitoring activity ensures that training is safe, and quality assured with competence based, consistent outcomes.
The (current) Industry Standards Approval Process consists of three stages:
Stage 1: Attend a one-day workshop – The one-day workshop covers the Approval Process and the detailed specifics of the Approval Criteria and Standard. There is no charge to participate in a workshop
Stage 2: Application and Desktop Submission – This process ensures that the Centre has the required resources to deliver the OPITO Standard, and a management system is in place that complies with the OPITO Approval Criteria.
Stage 3: An Onsite Audit – An OPITO Approvals Auditor will visit the Centres premises and observe training and/or assessments being carried out against the relevant OPITO Standard or Product.

Following successful participation in the Approval Process, Centres are awarded individual Approval for the specified OPITO Standard and can register delegates in OPITO’s Central Register.
Please note that we are in a period of transition from the current Approval Process to the new Risk-based Approach. Before applying for OPITO Approval, please read through our scenarios to ensure you are following the correct process. Please contact your regional office if you require assistance.
