The OPITO CMS approval process is carried out over three stages:
Stage 1 - Attend a one day workshop – The one day workshop covers the approval process and the detailed specifics of the approval criteria and standards. There is no charge to participate in a workshop.
Stage 2 - An application form (region dependent) will be completed by the organisation and submitted to OPITO along with a desk top matrix - these documents can be accessed in our downloads section below alongside helpful CMS guidelines. A detailed desktop audit will then take place at an OPITO office – any additional information required will be identified at this stage.
Stage 3 - A physical site audit will then take place at the organisation's offices and selected operational sites. This audit will be carried out by an OPITO auditor who will review a fully functioning system.
If an organisation has an existing CMS, OPITO offer a Systems Health Check Audit which can be used to benchmark the current system against the industry developed criteria and provides a roadmap to close the gaps to achieve approval.
